Rajahmundry: Andhra Pradesh Government is toying with the idea of introducing seaplane service to promote tourism, a state minister said on Saturday. “The government is contemplating to introduce seaplanes to connect the ports in the state.
These planes would land on jetties near ports. This will help improve transportation facilities and promote tourism,” Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said after inaugurating the ‘Kakinada Beach Festival’ at Vakalapudi beach near Kakinada.
The state government is also planning to train fishermen of the state to venture 320 kms into sea for fishing purposes, so that they can catch quality fish, he said. “Representation to this effect has been made to the Centre. It has been requested to provide high power boats and to impart training to the fishermen in this regard,” he said. Meanwhile, speaking during another event organised by the AP Power Engineers Association, the minister said the demands of power engineers for pay revision was under consideration. (PTI)
