SHILLONG: Taking cognizance of the frequent fraudulent withdrawals of money from bank accounts by callers posing as SBI officials, the Shillong Police has once again issued an advisory asking people not to divulge their ATM details to anyone.
Observing that people continued to succumb to the deceit of the swindlers despite the issue of several advisories in this regard, SP (City) Vivek Syiem said, the public should be more cautious and refrain from sharing such personal details like the ATM pin number.
Meanwhile, a woman from Lumsohra, here was recently duped in a similar way. On February 5 the victim Alira Roy Chowdhury received an anonymous call in which the caller identified himself as an employee of SBI and asked about her ATM details.
Later, she found that Rs. 9,999 had been fraudulently debited from her account
