SHILLONG: In what may bring sigh of relief to thousands of anxious students and parents, the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) has assured that there will be no load shedding during examination time this year unlike in the past.
This assurance was give by MeECL Director (Distribution) C. Kharkrang to a KSU delegation led by its Education Secretary Donald V. Thabah which had met him to express their concern over the regular imposition of load shedding during examination time in the past few years.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, Thabah informed that the MeECL Director had assured them that there will be no load shedding this year during the examinations.
“We are happy with the assurance given by the MeECL. We are hopeful that there will be no load shedding both in the urban and rural areas,” the KSU leader said.
Thabah informed that they had impressed upon the MeECL to take all possible steps to ensure that there is no load shedding especially during the night hours to give relief to the anxious students who are preparing for their examinations.
According to Thabah, the student community has always decried the MeECL for not showing any concern for the future of thousands of students of the State who are spending sleepless nights preparing for their examinations and are severely affected by the power cuts.
The KSU Education Secretary also conveyed the Union’s best wishes to the students who are appearing for their board and university examinations.
