Govt mulls ring road to connect border areas

SHILLONG: To improve connectivity along the international border, the State Government in planning to construct ring road in those areas.
Informing this here on Saturday, Border Area Development minister Prestone Tynsong said that the State government will move the Centre with this proposal for financial help.
According to Tynsong, the PWD has prepared an estimate to connect the border areas by way of ring road.
However, the State Government would have to approach the Union Government for help since constructing ring road would be an expensive proposition, he said adding that the estimated cost for ring road  from Dawki to Bholaganj comes to around Rs 150 crore.
The proposed ring road would connect all the border areas of the state and it is the need of the hour since connectivity  and poor road are major concerns in all the bordering areas of the state including Ranikor,  Dalu and  Dawki, the Minister said
Initially, the State Government wants to connect Dawki with Shella through the ring road project.
