Demand for release of salaries of casual workers of Health dept

NONGPOH: Registering their strong resentment against the mute attitude of the state government in addressing the grievances of casual workers and for delaying their salaries for eight months, the Ri-Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF) on Wednesday organised a black flag rally in Nongpoh.
The black flag rally was attended by local residents numbering around 400 who marched from DTO Office till NSCA Mini Stadium.
The RBYF agitation was supported by the FKJGP, KSU, HNYF and MIPRL.
The RBYF condemned Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and Health Minister A.L. Hek for failing to release the salaries of the casual workers for eight months and also for not regularizing their jobs under the Regular Casual Workers Scheme, 1996.
The RBYF stated that they would seek an appointment with the Chief Minister and if they were denied the same they would begin a non-cooperation and black flag movement against the Chief Minister whenever he would visit or travel through the district.
Among those who spoke at the meeting included Lambok Rymbai, leader, KSU NKH District, Eddie G. Kharbani, president, FKJGP, Markus Marten, leader, HNYF and Erwin K. Sutnga, vice chairman, Movement for Indigenous People’s Rights and Livelihood.
