Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma on Tuesday stressed on the need for showcasing the state’s rich indigenous tribal heritage and nature’s bounty as key ideas to promote tourism.
Inaugurating the ‘Arunachal Spring Carnival’, a three-day tourism festival at Sile Leging near here, Sharma called for tapping the rich cultural heritage of the state.
While advocating for creating eco-friendly and indigenous tribal infrastructure, the governor said tourists get a feel of the tribal living and soak in nature’s bounty.
Calling for sustained efforts to create more awareness on tourism in the state and to bring it in the World Tourism Map, he said, “With festivals like the Spring Carnival…, we can not only attract a large number of tourists in the near future, but bring in investments in infrastructure sector to enhance connectivity, so vital for development.”
The tribal hospitality must be maintained, he said and called upon the youth to play a major role in promoting tourism which could be a major source of livelihood.
To boost tourism, he said, the state government has introduced helicopter service to major tourist destinations. Infrastructural facilities are being constructed due to which inflow of domestic and foreign tourists are increasing day by day, the Governor said.
He urged all to preserve the rich flora and fauna which the state has been blessed with. (PTI)
