SHILLONG: The Urban Affairs Department has denied that the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) has any pending dues due to which MeECL had cut off the power supply to the Khyndailad fountain.
Principal Secretary, Urban Affairs, P. Naik informed that he had taken up the matter with the SMB and found that no power dues were pending.
He clarified that the fountain light at Khyndailad was not functioning due to problems with the pump, and added that the lessee who was given the responsibility of maintaining the fountain light has been removed.
It may be mentioned that the fountain light installed in the heart of the city at Khyndailad had been out of order for over a month but began functioning recently.
