SHILLONG: Even as the prime accused in the rape and murder of 27-year-old Ibansara Mawrie is in police net, the cops are on the lookout for more people, if any, involved in the gruesome crime.
East Khasi Hills SP, M Kharkrang said that investigation is on to ascertain if the accused Ricky Mawrie, who raped and murdered his cousin Ibansara, took anybody’s help while committing the crime.
Meanwhile, the family members of the victim have demanded the severest of punishments for the accused. The deceased had gone missing recently after which police nabbed Ricky who confessed to the crime.
Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, the victim’s mother, Yoana Mawrie denied reports that her daughter had gone to the accused on her own.
“She was called by the accused and later she went missing…,” she said.
The family members claimed that they came to know that the accused was in an ashram in Guwahati following which they rushed to the spot and got him back to hand him over to police.
“We found out that he sold Ibansara’s mobile to one person working in the ashram,” the family members said.
During interrogation, Ricky had claimed that he had kept the girl in the house of one Roshan Gurung at Law-u-Sib. However, police were unable to find anyone by that name.
It may be mentioned that two cases have been registered against Ricky Mawrie who is also known as “Bah Bah Psycho” in Rynjah police station.
The girl was raped and murdered and subsequently her body was dumped near Rynjah.
