TURA: The National People’s Party (NPP) which had been formed to look after the interest of the tribals has earned the wrath of several pressure groups from Garo Hills for deciding to field a non-tribal candidate in the upcoming GHADC polls.
The pressure groups which includ the Tengsak-led faction of the GSU, FAF, FKJGP, AYWO and ADE slammed the move of the party which had earlier made a “half-hearted” promise not to field any non-tribal candidate for the polls.
“The formation of the NPP has been nothing but deceit… The party has succumbed to politics and is only interested in garnering as many MDCs, MLAs it can,” the pressure groups said.
The pressure groups also sought immediate withdrawal of non-tribal candidate.
