SHILLONG: One bank branch has gone green whereas another has introduced strict security measures in place in view of the large scale bank frauds, here in the city. These two banks – State Bank of India (SBI) and United Bank of India (UBI) have their branches located at Laban.
The customers of SBI, Laban Branch  now have to produce their ATM cards to deposit cash into their account. Now this has been made compulsory for customers to produce their ATMs who want to transact over an SBI counter.
In UBI, Laban Branch, a notice reads that as per a directive from the bank’s head office, that no bearer cheques withdrawal will be allowed to its customers.
This means that a customer of this branch, who sends his/her messenger/authorized person for withdrawal purpose will not be entertained and they themselves has to be present in person.
