Rape cases on the rise across the state

SHILLONG: A series of sexual assaults and attempted rape cases have been reported from different parts of the state in the last couple of weeks.
It has been reported that during the second week of September, one Labo Kumahi sexually assaulted and threatened his thirteen year old step-daughter with dire consequences in their house at Nongjri village (EJH).
In a separate incident, a woman lodged a complaint that on September 27 at about 3.30 pm, two persons Kejinus Jyrwa (36) and Obar Singh Ranee (27 yrs), abducted her physically challenged fourteen year old daughter from her residence at Umran Niangbyrnai village in Ri Bhoi  to a nearby jungle and attempted to rape her.
A similar incident happened in Shillong on September 27 when one Abdul Khodus allegedly molested a seven year old girl in his shop near Mizo Secondary School, Happy Valley, Shillong and also threatened her with dire consequences.
Another incident was reported in South West Khasi Hills when one   An Paliar sexually assaulted a twenty-two year old girl at Mawsaw village on September 21.
