SHILLONG: Initiating community policing in Lawmei village under Sohiong outpost on Wednesday, East Khasi Hills SP, M. Kharkrang accompanied by SDPO Sohra, I.O Swer and OC, Lumdiengjri, PS, M. R Marak administered the oath to the members of new VDP of the village.
SDPO Sohra explained to the members the rules governing VDPs as well as traffic rules.
The SP urged the VDP to include women as members and also spoke on suspicious belief of MENSHOHNOH. His awareness sharing on drugs and alcohol won appreciation from the villagers.
It was attended by all new VDPs and villagers especially women. The programme was presided over by the headman, J. J Lyngdoh as well as W Lapang and P. A. Nongbsap among others.
