SHILLONG: In a bizarre incident, a ‘Bible man’ of the Presbyterian Church and a resident of Seijiong near Tynring under New Shillong Township was allegedly sexually assaulted by five unidentified miscreants near Police Training School (PTS) at Mawlai Mawroh on Monday night.
Sources revealed that the victim had boarded a local taxi to go to NEIGRIHMS from Nongmynsong to visit his brother-in-law admitted at the hospital.
However, five occupants of the cab kidnapped the victim and took him towards Ishyrwat junction from where the cab was diverted towards the road leading to Mawpat before proceeding towards Mawlai Mawroh. “The five occupants of the cab took him to a forested area near the PTS at Mawlai Mawroh and sexually assaulted him after stripping him,” the sources said.
Following the crime, the victim managed to inform his wife that he had been kidnapped and was near the PTS.
As soon as the new spread a search party consisting of over 30 vehicles from Tynring and its neighbouring villages went in search of the man, sources said.
They later located the victim at around midnight near the PTS and shifted him to the hospital as he had become unconscious.
Relatives of the victim have lodged an FIR at Nongmynsong police station.
“We are yet to make any arrest in this connection,” a senior police official said on Wednesday.
The victim originally hails from Nongmynsong but had shifted to his wife’s address at Seijiong after their marriage.
