Goalpara: A suspected GNLA militant was killed in an encounter with the police and one policeman and another ultra injured in lower Assam’s Goalpara district on Monday, a senior police officer said. On getting information about militants coming to Damra to kidnap an individual, police launched an operation to nab them, district Superintendent of Police Nitul Gogoi said. On seeing the police, the two militants travelling on a motorcycle fired at them in an attempt to flee, Gogoi said. In the exchange of fire, the extremist was killed and his associate along with the policeman were injured, he said. A pistol was recovered from the slain ultra and the injured admitted to hospital, Gogoi added. (PTI)
