Govt schools need to wake up: Nagaland Education Commissioner

Kohima : Nagaland Commissioner and Secretary School education and SCERT, F P Solo has said that Government Schools in Nagaland need to ‘wake and catch up’ with the private schools in areas such as infrastructure and quality education.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural porgramme of four-day ‘workshop on developing quality questions’ organized by NCERT and NBSE at NBSE conference hall, yesterday, Mr Solo expressed concern on Government School teachers’ turnout which was lesser than private school teachers’ at the workshop. He pointed out that the turnout also commensurate to the enrollment of students in private schools and Government schools. Mr Solo said that keeping in mind the need to bring more talent in teaching profession, the government was expediting a policy, which was ‘likely to take some time’.
Asserting that the common objective was to bring quality education, Mr Solo encouraged the teachers to update their knowledge and skills and get equipped with the latest technology. He also appealed to them to make the best use of the workshop and implement what they had learned in their respective schools.
Delivering the Keynote Address, Associate Professor NCERT New Delhi, Dr A D Tiwari appraised the gathering of the focus of the workshop.
He said that question papers should be prepared in such a way that was inclusive for all mental level of children, keeping in view problem solving ability, critical thinking and reasoning. (UNI)
