TURA: The proscribed GNLA has announced that the Chokpot BDO Jude Rangku T Sangma was released from its custody unharmed on Monday.
The outfit informed this through a social media statement.
The statement,  posted by a social media account holder, Takim Shira under the hash tag Garo News 24 Hours (Live), who regularly issues statements on behalf of the group, only mentioned in the local Garo language that the officer had been released since his custody was no longer required by the group.
The release also went on to say that in the future any government officer “who goes against the outfit will face a similar ordeal by being in their custody.”
However, at the time of filing this report the family of Jude Rangku was yet to get a confirmation of his release but frantic search had already begun from different corners.
It has not been ruled out that he may have been released in a jungle area where mobile connectivity is absent and the officer would have to  trek for several kilometers before being able to get a phone call across to the other side.
The BDO was kidnapped at Deku Deganggre village, between Chokpot and Tura, on October 27th evening while heading to a funeral of a relative. The GNLA area commander Hedio Momin alias Karak claimed responsibility for the abduction and at that time said that it was done because the BDO had blamed his group and politicians, including ministers, of siphoning off huge sums of money from the Chokpot block.
