NONGPOH: The Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong Umroi-Umiam area on Wednesday denied that they had protested the decision of the Synjuk ki Nongialam Shnong ka Bri u Hynniewtrep (SNSBH) to reject an offer of talk made by Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and endorsed the proposed protest march to the Secretariat planned on Thursday.
The Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong Umroi-Umiam in an urgent meeting attended by the leaders of the DKRSRBD held at Umroi Nongrah, slammed the statement published by vice chairman of DKRSRBD, F.M. Mawphniang which stated that the Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong Eastern Ri Bhoi (SRSER) comprising of 80 villages had expressed concern     over the rejection of talk by the SNSBH with the chief minister and had also misled the people by claiming friction in the Dorbar ki Rangbah Shnong Ri Bhoi District.
Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong Umroi-Umiam chairman Thom Lyngdoh and secretary P.B. Sylliang said the Rangbah Shnong falling under eastern Ri Bhoi were taken aback and shocked on seeing newspaper reports which stated that SRSER had expressed concern over the rejection of talk by the SNSBH leaders with the chief minister.
There is no such committee of the SRSER and the statement was given by Mawphniang and one Scaling Basawiamoit, Rangbah Shnong of Bhoirymbong Lumsohpieng for their own interest,” alleged the leaders of Synjuk Rangbah Shnong Umroi-Umiam area.
Meanwhile, the leader of DKRSRBD, including chairman Rocky Kylla, vice chairman B.B. Makdoh and secretary C.B. Syiem, slammed the statement of SRSER saying it had tarnished the prestige of the Dorbar ki Rangbah Shnong Ri Bhoi District.
The leader of DKRSRBD urged the people of Ri Bhoi and Ri Khasi Jaintia not to be misled by such statement which was made on personal grounds. The DKRSRBD also called upon the people of the district to come forward and support the proposed march of the SNSBH toward the Secretariat to be held on November 5 for fulfillment of their demands.
