SHILLONG: The privilege committee of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly on Thursday asked Addl. Chief Secretary P. Naik to conduct a government internal inquiry on the matter pertaining to a complaint lodged by the CEO of the Tura Municipal Board who had accused South Tura legislator John Leslee Sangma of obstructing a programme on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Tura on September 24.
UDP legislator Paul Lyngdoh, who attended the privilege committee meeting, said the committee has asked the additional chief secretary to submit his report within fifteen days.
Lyngdoh further said the committee has taken strong exception to the officers who have no responded to the summons of the privilege committee and has asked them to respond before the committee.
Earlier, the South Tura MLA had stated that the CEO of the Tura Municipal Board had falsely accused him of obstructing the programme on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Tura on September 24.
“I was in fact in the Assembly on that day when the House was discussing the issue of dual post,” he had claimed.
