SHILLONG: After much delay, the Centre has cleared the release of Rs 1.5 lakh each as one-time financial assistance as part of rehabilitation package to both ANVC and ANVC-B members following the peace settlement with both Centre and the State government in September last year.
An official source said on Thursday that in addition, the Centre has also agreed to release the pending monthly stipend of Rs 3,500 each to the ANVC cadres.
For more than a year, the ANVC cadres have not been availing the monthly stipend of Rs 3,500 each.
According to the official, following the clearance by the Centre, the state government will work out the modalities on the disbursement of the amount of money to the cadres.
The official said that though the government had sought Rs 2. 5 lakh per cadre as one time financial assistance, the Centre has agreed to provide Rs 1. 5 lakh each.
He said that the government is finalizing the exact number of cadres from both ANVC and ANVC-B who will be availing the one time financial assistance.
The official added that in addition to Rs 1. 5 lakh, the state government is looking at additional package in terms of livelihood programmes to the cadres of  both ANVC and ANVC-B.
