SHILLONG: D.P. Wahlang who was probing the Mookhep firing incident has submitted his report to the State government.
“I submitted the report to the government a long time back,” he said on Wednesday.
On September 24 last year two villagers were killed and several others injured at Mookhep in Jaintia Hills in police firing on a crowd protesting against the apathy of the government to address the concerns of the people following the NGT ban on coal mining.
Following the incident, a magisterial inquiry was ordered and the magistrate, East Jaintia Hills Additional Deputy Commissioner S.S. Syiemlieh submitted the report.
However, the government rejected the probe citing that the report posed more questions than answers.
When the pressure groups wanted a high level probe, the State government in March this year entrusted Wahlang to probe the incident.
