SHILLONG: Come Monday, the city will witness two rallies which are being organised for different reasons. While one rally will be organised by pressure groups from Jaintia Hills over the Mookhep firing incident, the other has been called by CSWO which will conduct a “global march for climate change”.
East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner P.S. Dkhar has given permission for holding both the rallies with a condition that the organizers will ensure that law and order is maintained.  The pressure groups from Jaintia Hills have decided to stage a march during which they will head towards Secretariat holding black-flags to protest the State Government’s delay in making public the magisterial probe report into the killing of two villagers at Mookhep. “They will take the Malki to Additional Secretariat Parking lot route but are not permitted to pass through Barik Point,” the DC said.
The CSWO in collaboration with Avaaz and several other civil society organizations and individuals around the world and supported by various groups in Shillong, will, meanwhile, organise a “global march for climate change” whch will begin from Madan Iewrynghep, near Fire brigade Ground and conclude at the parking lot near Additional Secretariat.
The march will begin at 11 a.m.
