SHILLONG: A pressure group from Ri Bhoi has opposed the move to set up a chemical industry in the district.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, general secretary HNYF-Ri-Bhoi Zone, A Jyrwa said that the move to set up the chemical industry at Sohpdok village in Mawhati would affect the health of the villagers living in the area.
“The move will also pollute the air, water, soil and even the animal and aquatic life,” he said. The pressure groups also asked KHADC not to give NOC to the industry.
