SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Friday termed the demand of the Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) for review of the State job reservation policy by the government as mere ‘political posturing’.
On Friday when reporters asked the chief minister for his comment on the demand by the regional party, the chief minister refused to give a direct reply but mentioned that there will always be different opinions among the people on the matter.
Without directly referring to KHNAM, the chief minister said the statement was more of a political posturing and added that if political parties do not whip up certain issues they will soon be forgotten by the people.
“Now their own members are leaving them, running away and joining other parties and their condition is pathetic,” the chief minister said in a veiled reference to the growing dissidence in the KHNAM.
It may be recalled that KHNAM has demanded review of the job reservation policy claiming that eligible candidates will be deprived of jobs if the policy was not reviewed as it ‘hinders the academics arena’.
