SHILLONG: Nearly two years after the order of the then West Jaintia Hills Chief Judicial Magistrate D. Dkhar, the Jowai police woke up from slumber to carry forward the probe related to Fullmoon Dhar, the mastermind of the infamous Shillong jailbreak of May 31, 2009.
Fullmoon was killed by police in Jaintia Hills in the same year.
Soon after the incident on May 31, 2009, a complaint was lodged by two pressure groups urging the Jowai police to investigate the case alleging Fullmoon was killed in a ‘fake encounter’.
Later, the police on two occasions submitted closure reports of the case to the court regarding the killing of Dhar.
However, following a petition filed by CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing for a high-level probe citing alleged fake encounter, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jowai on November 27, 2013 had directed that there is a need to re-investigate matter by the SP, Jowai.
But, there was alleged dilly-dally on the part of police to complete the investigation and the SP had entrusted the matter to be probed by a lower level officer.
The Investigating Officer recently asked the petitioner to appear before him on Wednesday at Jowai police station to record her statements in connection with the case.
