Guwahati: After waiting for more than a decade, Guwahati witnesses the first mainstream International act of Michael Learns to Rock (MLTR) on December 13 at Sarusajai, Guwahati, where they will rhythmically paint their love.
Garnishing good vibes globally, International Danish band MLTR, is back in our region.
“Let’s paint the city with loveeeee,” said Kare Wanscher, drummer of the band with a gleam in his eyes soon after he landed at the Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati.
The performers are more than eager to be a part of the poly cultural ambience in this part of the country after rocking the capital on December 11.
The event is organised by Making It Happen (MIH), and is a pre-promo of METROPOLIS “Urban Winter Festival” 2016, in association with Northeast Today.
Young guns of North East India, known for its fascination for music, are all geared up to welcome one of the most popular music bands of the world.
The Danish band will be touring across many cities in India and is expected to sweep the crowd with their all time hits like Paint My Love, You Took My Heart Away , Sleeping Child , Someday and many more.
MLTR’s India visit is part of their 25 th Live Anniversary Celebration Tour and they have performed in Mumbai, Shillong and Delhi during their earlier visit to the country.
As Guwahati is all set to welcome the popular rock band MLTR, let us also refresh our memories about the origin of the band and have a glimpse at how it all began. Way back in the year 1988, Jascha Richter, the vocalist and the keyboard player of the band, planned to put up a band together in order to perform his songs.
He joined Kåre Wanscher, his high school friend and drummer and later he recruited guitarist Mikkel Lentz, who was at that time, associated with his group the ‘Rocking Studs’.
As the group was still in need of another musician, they approached Søren Madsen, another guitarist who was associated with Led Zeppelin, the English Rock band, to join in on bass guitar.
The newly formed band quickly recorded a demo tape, intending to send it to the Rock Grand Prix competition in their hometown, Aarhus, as Jascha Richter already had a number of original songs.
