Trucks loaded with cattle seized, seven held

SHILLONG: BSF troops deployed at Beltoli, East Khasi Hills apprehended seven Indian cattle smugglers with 33 cattle loaded in two trucks.
The apprehended smugglers have been identified as Lawas, Wonkyne, Nngait Sutnga and   Emryngkot Kamar (29), all from Jowai, Abulu Hssain and  Shahidul Islam from Barpeta and  Nukesh lyngdoh from Umsing.
According to BSF, the smugglers confessed that the cattle were brought in the trucks for smuggling out to Bangladesh.
Of late, there has been a spurt in the activities of the cattle smugglers in Muktapur, Nayabazar, Tuka and Dawki areas of the border, and resultantly the BSF has also increased its vigil and special operations were initiated regularly to curb the menace of smuggling of cattle and other contraband items.
