Bike rally organised as part of Road Safety Week

SHILLONG: As part of the Road Safety Week programme (January 10-16), traffic branches from different parts of the city organised a bike rally to create awareness on road safety here on Friday.
The rally was flagged off from State Central Library premises by IG, Eastern Range, H. Nongpluh.
“With the number of cars in Shillong increasing by the day , an orderly system of traffic management to ease traffic congestion is the need of the hour,” Nongpluh said after the flag off.
Nongpluh also pointed out that use of school buses will considerably ease traffic congestion in the city.
He added that obeying traffic rules was a must in view of the increasing number of cars on the city roads.
Meanwhile, the bike rally which began at the State Central Library premises passed through  Madanriting, Rynjah, Laitumkhrah, Dhanketi, Barik, Old Cherra, Garikhana, Mawlai petrol pump, Jaiaw, Mawkhar, and Police Bazar before culminating at Police Reserve, Polo.
