BJP sounds soft towards govt on law and order situation
SHILLONG: The newly-appointed state BJP president Shibun Lyngdoh has demanded a judicial inquiry into education scam, which rocked the state.
Speaking to reporters after assuming charge from Khlur Singh here on Saturday, he said that the people involved in the education scam should be brought to book.
Lyngdoh, who unsuccessfully contested the 2013 Assembly elections, asserted that there was no difference in the party and he would work with all including the former leaders who had played an important role in establishing the party in Meghalaya.
Stating that the law and order situation in the state was going from bad to worse, he, however, sounded soft towards the state government by choosing not to criticize it on the issue.
Lyngdoh said, “I will not criticize the state government with the hope that corrective measures would be adopted by the government in containing the situation especially in Garo Hills.”
Lyngdoh said, “If the state government wants the support of the BJP, we would be willing to sit and discuss to find out solution to the problem.”
Stating that the inter-state border problem has created insecurity in the minds of the people residing in the border areas, the BJP state president said, “We want immediate solution to the problem as the Congress party is ruling in both Meghalaya and Assam.”
