Outfit continues to deny involvement in W’nagar blast
TURA: At a time when the people of Garo Hills are still reeling over the trauma of the recent Williamnagar market blast, the GNLA has accused the police of spreading rumours of further blasts in Garo Hills even as it continued its assertion that the outfit was not involved in the incident.
“Where were these bomb experts before the blast took place? It is a shame that the police instead of comforting the victims are busy circulating rumours which is causing a feeling of insecurity among the people of Garo Hills,” GNLA publicity secretary, Gantong Ch Marak said in a statement issued here on Sunday.
Indirectly hinting at who should be blamed for the blast that injured nine people, the publicity secretary said that it was only logical that those who could make predictions of future blasts could also be the ones to cause it.
“It is clear now that the police have nothing more to elucidate about the Williamnagar blast. We have already clarified that our organization has no role in the blast,” he further added.
The statement went on to question why the police had allowed the blast to take place if it knew about it a day before.
“If such was the situation, why did they permit the GNLA to come into the heart of the marketplace to plant the device? This twisting of facts is only to befuddle the public,” it said.
Further, referring to newspaper statements allegedly made by police that Sohan was in Bangladesh, the outfit questioned why they were hunting for him in the jungles of Garo Hills.
“All this while, the police have been telling people that they are chasing Sohan in the jungles of Garo Hills. As per their own statement in the newspapers Sohan has crossed over to Bangladesh. When did he come back from there?” the outfit asked.
It may be mentioned that there was widespread condemnation of the Williamnagar IED blast which created a fear psychosis in the minds of the people of Garo Hills.
