SHILLONG: Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) job card holders have alleged large scale misappropriation of funds by the president and secretary of the Charbatapara village employment council (VEC).
The job card holders have also filed an RTI to detect the alleged fraud.
Alleging that VEC president, Bozlul Hoque and secretary Jeyadur Islam Saikia have been functioning without following the norms and guidelines of the MGNREGS, the aggrieved job card holders urged the Block Development Officer, Selsella Block to stop the release of funds till the RTI information is furnished and proper inquiry is made into the anomalies.
