SHILLONG: The State government has postponed the date for inauguration of 160 units of the Nongmynsong housing complex to February 29.
Sources on Saturday said the date for the inauguration has been changed since the minister in charge is unwell.
The government had earlier fixed February 14 as the inauguration date as it wanted to    present the housing units as a ‘gift of love’ to the people of the State on Valentine’s Day.
Following the inauguration, construction would begin for the remaining 90 units which would be set for completion by December, 2016.
The project has gone through several ups and downs with Hindustan Prefab Limited (HPL) initially assigned the work and later abandoning it.
The State government reacted by terminating its agreement with HPL and tasking MUDA with the responsibility of completing the housing units under JNNURM in Nongmynsong on its own.
