BSF organises civic action programme

JOWAI: As part of the Border Management Plan, a Civic Action Programme was organized recently by the 30 Bn of the BSF for the border population at Umsyiem village in East Khasi Hills. The BSF has been associated with the public outreach programmes and has been implementing the Government schemes related to border areas.
Through civic action programme, the 30 Bn BSF has made efforts to create a feeling of oneness, security and belonging in the border population.
As part of the programme a workshop was also organized on mushroom cultivation for border population with the help of Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), Umiam.
During the civic action programme, sports items including football, football nets, volley ball nets, school uniforms, pen and school bags, stationery items, water storage tanks, sewing machines, blankets and clothing items were also distributed to the villagers.
In Dawki area the items were also distributed at Bakur, Pyrdiwah, Naya Bazar. Blankets were distributed to some of the poor residents of Amdoh, Amlympiang, Naljuri, Lyngkhat, Bakur and Pyrdiwah.
The programme was inaugurated by ND Bahuguna, Deputy Inspector General, Sector Headquarter, Jowai.
