Rs 1.27 lakh looted from bank

JOWAI: Unidentified miscreants looted Rs. 1.27 lakh from the Saipung Branch of Punjab National Bank at gun point on Tuesday.
The branch manager Paban Kumar Das in his complaint to the Saipung Police stated that three masked men armed with small guns came to the bank and looted the amount. When the staff refused to give them money, they fired three shots and forcibly took Rs 1.27 lakh from the  cash counter. According to head cashier of the bank, Sujeet Kr Singh, the said amount was deposited by one of their customers.
Meanwhile, East Jaintia Hills district police chief S Thamar informed  that a case under Section 392 of IPC was registered in this connection.
