Implementation of inter-state and intl borders schemes
SHILLONG: HSPDP legislator Ardent Basaiawmoit has asked the state government to avoid duplicity of schemes meant for both inter-state and international borders.
During the Question Hour in the Assembly on Thursday, Basaiawmoit sought to know whether the residents of inter-state border also avail the schemes under international border.
However, the Minister in-charge Border Areas Development, Prestone Tynsong said that a district level committee ensures that there is no duplicity of schemes.
Tynsong said that while the inter-state border area scheme is funded by the state government, Centre is funding the schemes for the international border areas.
According to the Minister, the schemes for the inter-state borders was launched in 2011-12 and the government has projected the fund allocation of Rs 10 crore each year for the same.
To a supplementary question, Tynsong informed the House that the PWD along with NHAI will widen the Dawki-Tamabil road.
LPG plant
Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Clement Marak said in the Assembly that all-out efforts have been made by the government to set up an LPG bottling plant in the state.
Replying to a question raised by Jemino Mawthoh, the Minister said that as early as 1996, a land measuring 50 acres was identified by the Indian Oil Corporation at Umroi area, but due to opposition from people, the government could not acquire the land.
Nongstoin water supply
To a question by Witting Mawsor (HSPDP), Deputy Chief Minister in charge PHE, RC Laloo said that the works on the implementation of Nongstoin Urban Water Supply Scheme was in progress.
