NONGSTOIN: In a joint meeting held on Saturday, four villages lying around Pyndenglawar area, around 20 km from Nongstoin, decided to close down all the wine shops w.e.f March 31.
Speaking to pressmen here on Saturday, adviser of the Synjuk, Morningstar Tympuiñ said the decision was taken after a long discussion tabled by the Sordar of Pyndenglawar along with other NGO members. “We appreciate the step taken by the Pyndenglawar village as, it will benefit the people, especially drivers,” Tympuin said. He also said the presence of several liquor stores, especially in the Pyndenglawar area, has become an eyesore.
Tympuin added that people throw bottles on the road-side which causes environment hazard. Moreover, it was also reported that during evening hours, local taxis lined up near the road side where they drank and swore thereby stigmatizing the area.
