SHILLONG: The postal employees of Meghalaya will observe morning hour demonstration in front of Shillong GPO for one week from March 28 to protest against hasty exercise being carried out by the Postal Department on core banking.
“The Core Banking Solution, whereby post offices in India will be migrated to CBS by end of March is underway in a good number of post offices in the circle along with the rest of the country without minding the capacity of the network and peripherals available in the offices,” the employees said. “The end users at the counter areas are affected badly, and the public are also suffering a lot. The MoU made with M/S Sify for network integration is limited to low bandwidth resulting in sluggish connectivity and takes hours altogether to transform the data.”
“This results in hang over and the transactions cannot be made at the instant. A memorandum to this effect will be submitted to the Chief Post Master General, NE Circle,” they stated.
