SHILLONG: In an anti-infiltration drive along the international border, the BSF troops deployed at Lukaichar, South Garo Hills District, apprehended one Indian cattle smuggler namely Rubil Miya (35) under Mankachar district in Dhubri (Assam) along with 8 cattle being smuggled to Bangladesh.
In another incident, the BSF troops deployed at Gopinathkilla, South West Garo Hills District seized 41 cattle being smuggled to Bangladesh.
However, the price of beef in Bangladesh has gone up by 30 per cent. Earlier, the cost of one kilogram of beef was between 280-290 taka, but now it has risen to 300-320 taka/, said a BSF statement.
“This has led to Bangladeshi farmers having consented on cow fattening and cow farming practices,” added the BSF statement.
BSF troops have been put on high alert on the international border to foil any attempt of ill design of anti-national elements. It has strengthened operations on Indo-Bangladesh border to check trans-border activities.
