Proper cement supply to be ensured

SHILLONG: The supply of cement by Mawmluh Cherra Cement Limited (MCCL) will henceforth be in proper regulation as informed by MCCL managing director, Sanjay Goyal.
Speaking to the media, Goyal hinted at some ups and downs in the process, however, being optimistic of the company’s production.
On enquiring whether employees would get their dues once the production was regulated, he said, “After the supply is regulated, and cement is sold out, the employees will get their dues.”
Goyal added that a recent meeting with the employees union was fruitful as he stated that employees were willing to put in efforts for the improvement of the company.
In recent years, MCCL has been reeling under financial crunch as salaries of employees were yet to be released.
Even after the commissioning of upgraded MCCL in January this year, the commercial production is yet to be stabilized.
The Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, in an attempt to revive the sick public sector unit provided Rs. 80 crore to MCCL with a rider that the proposal of voluntary retirement scheme for the employees would be executed and the fund provided by the Government would be utilized in payment of pending salaries, unpaid power dues and various cess, besides settling the one-time principal and interest of the bank loan which MCCL had taken earlier.
