CM inaugurates bridge

SHIILLONG:   Chief minister Mukul Sangma on Monday inaugurated a bridge which connects Williamnagar with several villages across Simsang river.
The bridge spans a total of 203.29 metres, making it the longest bridge in Meghalaya to be constructed by the State PWD, which was initially sanctioned at Rs.1.4365 crore on March 25, 1986.
The construction process dragged on for 30 years due to several reasons.
However, despite many hurdles and inclement weather during the working season, the bridge was finally completed in March this year.
PWD minister S Dhar,   Social welfare minister Deborah Marak , Chief Secretary and other  officials were present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister later laid the foundation stone for a two lane road from Williamnagar to Chokpot.
