Jilted lover killed Mendipathar girl

SHILLONG/RESUBELPARA: Police have solved the recent sensational murder case of a 15-year-old girl identified as Nazma Khatur, a maid working at the house of a businessman at Mendipathar, North Garo Hills following the arrest of prime accused Muhamad Adres Ali.
The crime took place on April 9 night, at the residence of one Mehbub Shikdar who was away from home leaving his maid.
Police had detained several suspects including the accused Ali (22) who worked in a nearby tea shop belonging to the same businessman.
Following interrogation it was learnt that Ali, who was in love with the girl, committed the crime in rage after the latter refused to marry him.
According to the confession made by the accused before the police, after knowing the girl’s commitment to another person in the town, the accused slit the throat of the girl out of revenge by using a knife which was later recovered.
The accused made a confessional statement before the magistrate regarding his role in the crime, police added.
