SHILLONG: Shillong Police has issued an advisory against a racket which dupes people by airing fake advertisements. East Khasi Hills SP M Kharkrang said that some unscrupulous persons, through TV channels and SMS, are offering sale of products which come with several free gift items.
“Once a person makes a call to any of these numbers flashed, they would persistently call back to take delivery sent by post. After payment is made and the parcel opened, usually some heavy items like stones and bricks are recovered from it,” Kharkrang said.
