Governor inaugurates computer lab for differently abled

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Governor V Shanmuganathan on Tuesday inaugurated an accessible computer lab in Umniuh-Khwan, Ri-Bhoi District for empowering children with disabilities to access digital learning and enhance their computer skills with digital assistive technology.
CBM India Trust has supported the setting up of the computer lab with its partner Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor expressed his happiness at the launching of the lab and called upon CBM and Ferrando Speech and Hearing Center to work towards making the centre one of the best resources for children with disabilities in the North East.
“Make the centre a special one in the entire region. I will always be ready to support this and other such initiatives for inclusive education of people with disabilities,” he added.
Sr. Bindu Thomas, in charge of the project at the centre said that the computer lab will address the much felt need for digital inclusion of children with disabilities studying in the schools and also those in the community.
