Asananggre: The 1st annual general meeting of All India Postal Employees Union-Gramin Dak Sevak (AIPEU-GDS), Garo Hills Sub-Division was held at Asananggre, West Garo Hills.
The meeting was attended by guest speakers Uttam Chanda- the Circle Secretary of NE-Circle, B.Wahlang- the Circle Treasurer of NE-Circle and G.Gurung- the Division Secretary of Meghalaya Division, Shillong. Hundreds of Gramin Dak Sevaks from parts of Garo Hills also attended the meet.
The issues discussed in the meeting were present postal related problems which include link failure, core banking system and its effect on Branch offices, the work load at Branch Offices, the vacancies lying un-filled up since from long period of time and many more.
New office bearers were also selected by voting in the meeting.
Those who were elected include L A.Sangma, president, U M.Sangma, secretary along with seven other office bearers and six executive members.
