SHILLONG: A sub-committee has been constituted to examine whether the State government should follow the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) for awarding medical seats to meritorious students of the State.
NEET is a single all India entrance test meant for admission to MBBS courses in government-run medical colleges, private colleges, deemed universities, and minority institutions among others.
Health Minister A.L. Hek told reporters on Thursday that the sub-committee headed by Secretary, Health department, K.W. Marbaniang will meet soon to come up with its report at the earliest as the examination is scheduled to be held towards the last part of next month.
According to Hek, since the State does not have a medical college, the students must have prepared for NEET.
