Youth body threatens to take over unused Government buildings

 SHILLONG: Seng Samla Lachumiere on Monday has threatened to turn unutilized Government buildings in the locality into a community building.

It is found that even after completing the construction for nearly four years the Government has not utilise the building till now.

During an inspection to the site on Monday, it was found that there are garbages being dumped inside the room besides liquor bottle and beds were also inside. There were many other things which are lying inside the rooms which was heartening to see.

Speaking to reporters after the inspection, Seng Samla Lachumiere president Elton Warjri said they have come across on many occasion that college and school students are using these buildings to take alcohol, drugs and indulge in various kinds of indecent behaviour.

“We do not know these buildings belong to which department. If the Government does not utilise these buildings we would utilise them as a community hall,” Warjri said.
