Kalpataru case

SHILLONG: The state education department has come under the scanner for first giving NOC to Kalpataru Academy to get affiliated to Board of Higher Secondary Education, (BHSE) Delhi, a year ago and then withdrawing the same on June 7 this year.
It was the Director of School Education and Literacy Ambrose Ch Marak who gave NOC to Kalpataru to carry on with the affiliation with BHSE in August last year.
Later on June 7 this year, Marak withdrew the NOC citing that BHSE is not a recognized board.
Debashish Chakraborty, Honourary Secretary of Kalpataru Academy has expressed surprise over the sudden move of the education department to withdraw NOC which according to him has affected the future of the students.
Chakraborty also clarified that the fees charged from the students are not huge and added that it was nominal.
He also said that it is not a fact that the syllabus taught at Kalpataru is a mixture of MBoSE and CBSE.
More institutions in city have rejected admissions to the students who passed out from Kalpataru.
Kalpataru reportedly took Rs 10,000 from each student for appearing in the examination conducted by BHSE.
Sources on Saturday said that many students who were already admitted in some educational institutions in city were asked to discontinue following the de- recognition of the Delhi board.
The students said that the concerned authorities including education department should address their concerns as their future is bleak for no fault of theirs.
