DC’s intervention sought against liquor sale

SHILLONG: The Joint Action Committee of Schools has expressed its concern over the sale of illicit liquor Urkaliar, Nongmensong and Demseniong road and sought the intervention of Deputy Commissioner in this regard.
The Joint Action Committee of Schools on Tuesday met DC and even submitted a memorandum to SP M Kharkrang urging them to take action.
The committee said that the sale of liquor has been going on for many years in these areas, but the sale has gone up of late.
The committee also said that about 20-25 houses are selling country and foreign made liquor illegally and added that it is impossible for common man to walk on the street as the road remains full of people under inebriated condition.
The committee said that so many institutes are located in the nearby areas including NEIGRIHMS and and   Indian institute of hotel managemenand the worst sufferers are children and students.
