SHILLONG: Pressure groups opposed to the proposed Nongstoin-Pambriew-Wahkaji- Mawthabah road project have submitted a memorandum to Lok Sabha member from Shillong Vincent H. Pala seeking his intervention to clear the air on the ambiguity surrounding the project, particularly on whether the project is meant for uranium exploration or road expansion.
The Joint Action Committee of Social Organisation, South West Khasi Hills, has requested the MP to seek clarity on the road project from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway, UCIL, the PMO and the State government.
Asserting that they would not budge from their anti-uranium stand, they stated that they welcome developmental activities but “any move to mine uranium at Mawthabah will be met with stiff opposition”.
