FKJGP plea to House panel

SHILLONG: FKJGP, a part of conglomerate of 14 NGOs demanding a comprehensive mechanism to tackle influx in the state, has urged the Select Committee of the Meghalaya legislative Assembly to expedite the work on  the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Bill, 2016. It was in  March this year when Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Bill, 2016  was referred to the select committee.
Speaking to reporters,  the FKJGP chief Joe Marwein said that his organization was told that the select committee is yet to have a single meeting on the issue.
The nine members of the select committee  are Metbah Lyngdoh, Ardent M Basaiawmoit, John Leslee K Sangma, Jemino Mawthoh, Hopeful Bamon, C Momin, Saleng A Sangma, Embhahlang Syiemlieh and Nihim D Shira.
He also said that the State Government should   speed up the process of   setting up and entry and exit gates in the state to check influx.
