Mothers’ group thanks CM for closure of liquor stores

TURA: The United Mothers’ Group of New Tura (UMGNT) has thanked Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and South Tura MLA, John Leslee K Sangma for the closure of all illegal liquor stores along the road from Araimile to Walbakgre in New Tura area.
The Mothers’ Group also thanked the Deputy Commissioner, NGOs, Church leaders, presidents and secretaries of development committees, local headmen and locality elders for their support and cooperation on the issue.

 

ATM fraud
SHILLONG: In yet another case of ATM fraud,  Rs 87,000 was withdrawan fraudulently from a woman’s card after it was swapped by a miscreant who offered to help her in taking the money out from an SBI ATM at Khliehriat.   The woman filed a complaint that on July 16 an unidentified person, on the pretext of helping her, swapped her ATM card with another, and to her dismay she found out the next day that Rs. 87,000 has been debited from her account.

 

Dictionaries distributed
SHILLONG: A Jaintia Hills-based NGO, the All Jaintia Hills Social Welfare Organisation, on July 23 distributed Anglo-Khasi dictionaries to 24 children sheltered at North-East India Mission Association (NEIMA) Sahsniang, West Jaintia Hills.

 

Theft at
BDO’s office

SHILLONG: Unknown miscreants recently broke into the office of BDO, C&RD Block, Nongstoin and stole several items including cheque books, digital signature certificates etc. Office property was also destroyed in the incident that occurred on the night July 21.
